Yes, PEP is available for individuals who may have been exposed to HIV within the last 72 hours. It is a short-term medication regimen that significantly reduces the risk of infection. It’s crucial to start PEP as soon as possible after potential exposure.

Not necessarily — PrEP is taken as long as there is a chance of HIV exposure. Your healthcare provider will help you determine if and when it’s appropriate to stop. Regular check-ups and lab tests are required to ensure PrEP is safe and working for you.

If you miss a dose of PrEP, take it as soon as you remember, but do not take two doses at once. For PEP, it's important to stay on schedule to maximize effectiveness—if you miss a dose, contact a healthcare provider as soon as possible for guidance.

Beyond medical treatment, the program offers help for you to manage your medical care, support groups, mental health referrals, and help with getting housing, transportation, and other essential needs. Linkage to Care Specialists help connect individuals to these resources.
